Crystal Palace Park Community Stakeholder Group – deadline extended for volunteer positions

08 January 2012

Description:

Are you interested in the future of Crystal Palace Park?

Positions are still available for volunteers to advise a management board for the park's future. The Council has created a Management Board to help improve and attract more visitors and investment to the park.  This includes the Community Stakeholder Group, which is still recruiting for volunteers who would like to make a difference to the historic green space. The deadline for applications has been extended to January 13 2012.

"Crystal Palace Park is a significant local and regional asset and the park and surrounding area are well represented by many community interest groups.  It is vital that the views of local people and stakeholders are heard, which is why we have extended the deadline for applications to early in the New Year.  If you're passionate about conservation, with networking and communication skills and have some spare time, why not apply to be a volunteer?" said Councillor Peter Morgan, Executive Councillor for Renewal and Recreation.

The Crystal Palace Park Community Stakeholder Group will explore and deliver opportunities for the future management, restoration, development and protection of the park. This may include examining the creation of a not-for-profit trust to govern the park and entering into discussions with established organisations that have experience of managing green spaces.  The Stakeholder Group will be expected to draw together ideas from the community.  Their work will be overseen by the Crystal Palace Park Executive Project Board who will make recommendations to the Council's Executive Committee.

The Council is working in partnership with Community Links Bromley, who is managing the recruitment of the Community Stakeholder Group. Up to eleven individuals will be recruited to the group, with three positions ring fenced for people already involved in voluntary activities related to the park.   If you would like to be involved or find out further information and download an application pack, visitwww.bromley.gov.uk/crystalpalacepark The closing date for applications is Friday 13 January 2012.
