The London Borough of Bromley has made a clean sweep of TVs recent dance shows!
‘So You Think You Can Dance’, the dance talent show on the BBC, was won by 19 year old Charlie Bruce from Beckenham. Presented by Cat Deeley and judged by former Fame Academy judge, Nigel Lythgoe, former Strictly Come Dancing judge, Arlene Phillips, Louise Redknapp and Sisco Gomez, Charlie beat off competition from two other contestants in the final. Each week she as required to master a different style of dance and as the winner she walks away with prize money of £100,000 plus a chance to dance on ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ in Hollywood.
The top prize for Sky 1s equivalent show which ran at the same time, ‘Got To Dance’, was scooped by Orpington youngster, Akai Osei-Mansfield. Akai is a 10 year old street dancer who attends Class School of Dance, based in Orpington itself. Akai also claimed prize money of £100,000 on the Davina McCall presented show. He was the best of thousands of candidates judged by the panel of experts, Adam Garcia, Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt and Ashley Banjo from Diversity, on a show which looked at dance acts from across the UK from Edinburgh to Manchester to London.
