Description:
This weekend in Bromley is a little top heavy this week as most of the activity takes place on Friday, leaving the rest of the weekend for a well earned rest!
The long term exhibitions in Bromley continue into the weekend with Invaders of Bromley at Bromley Museum taking a look at everybody who’s tried to conquer our borough over the centuries and the Community Art Exhibition taking place at Bromley Library.
Daytime on Friday sees two very varied events taking place. Going LOOPy from Hayes to Farnborough is exactly as the name suggests! A linear walk starting at Hayes Railway Station, taking in the sights of Hayes, Keston, High Elms and Farnborough.
The second daytime event on Friday starts at 2:30pm and is indoors with no walking at all. Join Petts Wood Library for their Coffee Afternoon and Talk on The Suffragette Movement. Barbara Andrew will be there to give the talk and answer any questions you may have on this key point in history.
Friday night gives you four very different choices!
For a musical night you have a decision to make. Join the Churchill Theatre for their Rock Around the Clock spectacular featuring unforgettable songs such as Great Balls of Fire, Jailhouse Rock, Blueberry Hill, Shake Rattle and Roll, Good Golly Miss Molly, Johnny B Goode and many more.
If you love your music but would like the chance to get up and jive yourself then perhaps you’d be more at home at the Farnborough Jazz Club? Live jazz with dancing and a bar, what more could you ask for?
There are two quieter options for you tonight too. For those of you who love their crime fiction you are in for a treat. Three of the UKs top crime novelists will be talking about and signing their books at Bromley Library this evening. Simon Brett, creator of the Charles Paris and Mrs Pargeter series; Mark Billingham, creator of the great Tom Thorne; and Martyn Waite of Stephen Larkin and Joe Donovan fame will also be on hand to answer any questions you may have.
You also have an outdoor option too! Moonlight & Moth Traps takes a look at our local autumn moths and shows you how to catch and study these creatures. Meet at the main car park of Keston Ponds.
If you like your activities outdoors then Sunday provides another treat. Go along to Jubilee Country Park for a guided walk and Blackberry Hunt. Meet up at 2pm, giving you plenty of time later to turn your finds into a tasty pie!
