What's on in Bromley this Weekend?

20 August 2010

Description:

For those of you who like the arts, Tchaikovsky’s infamous masterpiece the Nutcracker comes to the Churchill Theatre this Friday and Saturday courtesy of the English Youth Ballet.  Magical sets are promised as the EYB show off Clara’s dream of the Sugar Plum Fairy, the Nutcracker Prince and the mysterious Godfather Drosselmeyer in Bromley this Friday and Saturday.

Fingers crossed that the weather holds out for the Foal Farm Summer Tea Party in Biggin Hill.  The party is aiming to raise funds for the care of the animals on the farm itself.  Those who cannot attend are encouraged to hold their own event on behalf of the farm.

Those looking for a Friday night with a difference are invited to Jubilee Country Park for a Bat Walk.  Bring a torch and join in looking for and learning about these fascinating nocturnal creatures.

For those of you who like your Friday night entertainment to be indoors, preferably with a drink in hand, then why not pop along to Farnborough Jazz Club.  This event takes place every Friday night at Farnborough Sports Club in the High Street and promises to be a night of great music and dancing.

Saturday see a wide range of different events taking place in the borough.  The Bromley Arts Society holds its annual exhibition at High Elms Country Park.  Take the opportunity to enjoy and purchase work by this local art group.

Not officially a Bromley based event but an essential one if you follow the Lillywhites.  Bromley FC take on Hampton & Richmond at Hampton’s ground.  Can Bromley maintain their 100% record at the start of this season?

For the ‘believers’ out there and for followers of Sky TV’s Celebrity Psychics, there will be a Day of Healing taking place upstairs at Chislehurst Library.

Want to see a concert performed by two of the greatest rock bands of all time?  Thanks to the band Purple Zeppelin and their Saturday night appearance at The Railway Hotel you can.  See the band pay tribute to Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple in a two part set, playing more than 30 classic songs!  A bargain for £3 on the door!

After rocking your Saturday night away, be up bright and early on Sunday morning for Moth Morning.  Be at High Elms Country Park by 10am for a chance to see these fascinating invertebrates close up.  Stay on at High Elms until the afternoon as there will again be tours of the estate Ice Well for you to enjoy.
