Bromley’s ‘green Oscars’ take place on Friday night with the Bromley Environment Awards 2010 taking place at the civic centre. The awards, nominated by local people will reward people for work across a range of categories including: Green Business; Green Household, Green School and Green Building as well as presenting an award for the Young Environmentalist of the year.
Saturday sees the usual fantastic collection of summer fetes and fairs. This Saturday there is a fair with a difference however! The Marian Vian Primary School “Weird Science” Summer Fair takes place, all the usual things you can expect at a summer fair such as stalls, games and rides, but there will also be Science Museum shows running throughout the day!
For a more traditional school fete try the Burnt Ash Primary School Summer Fair, tombola’s, craft stalls plus a barbecue to keep you going!
Also on Saturday the NCT Pregnancy & Baby Fair takes place at Bromley Civic Centre. Al manner of baby related wares on offer as well as information and support for new parents and parents to be.
For those wanting to get out and about in the countryside on Saturday, there are also a couple of options open to you. Illustrating Darwin’s Ideas is a short walk through the meadows at High Elms Country Park, checking out the plants and animals before settling down to paint them.
Alternatively, also taking place at High Elms this Saturday, there will be a walking stick demonstration, showing how to bend, straighten and carve.
Sunday gives you another chance to go on the Ice Well Tour at High Elms, alternatively, above ground; you can join the Friends of Jubilee Park as they embark on a Butterfly Walk in the local meadows and woodlands.
