Description:
Chelsfield is a small village near to Orpington. Despite is proximity to the busier town it still very much retains a rural feel. Traditional houses and a village pub are the stand out features of the village.
The Five Bells pub is a traditional establishment and is a focal point for the village. It has both saloon and lounge bars, the latter having a wide ranging menu for hot food. The proprietors always make sure there is something going on at the pub and evenings range from opera nights to bat and trap games.
Chelsfield has overcome adversity to thrive as a village, in the 1920's the village was split right down the middle by the busy Orpington bypass, the most significant consequence of this is that the village church is now separate from the village itself.
Chelsfield does have a railway station with regular and fast services to central London, however the station is located just over half a mile away from the village itself in the more modern east side.
Chelsfield is home to the Chelsfield Park Hospital, a private hospital providing a range of healthcare services and is well known for its fertility clinic.
Chelsfield Primary School is a small school in the village.
Chelsfield has a yearly village fair which can attract up to 4,000 people. It is held on the recreation ground in July and the profits go to a selected yearly charity and local good causes. The fair is also graced by a flying display.
