Real Nappies
OK, Tom is 6 months old now and I’ve decided it’s about time I tried to do my bit for the environment. A friend of mine has been using reusables for ages but it took me a while to think I could actually cope. The thought of making my life more difficult than it already is was a big no no but now I am thinking I might be able to manage, I mean surely I can do a couple more washing loads a week without losing my mind.... having said that I already think I have a ‘nappy head’!! The other reason I wasn’t keen on trying this was the thought of putting poo into my washing machine – it sounds sooo disgusting. Anyway I have discovered you can put flushable inserts into the nappy so they collect the poo and you can just chuck it down the loo. Now Tom is on solids it works but I don’t think I would have liked to try it before now. It’s very early days (day 3 to be precise!) and it’s going ok so I’ll just see how it goes. Reusables are pretty expensive to start with so I’ve only bought 5 so far to see if I take to them. In the long run they are supposed to save you loads though. Also Bromley do this thing where they give you £30 if you use them so I’ll have to look into that if I stick with them.
